Accreditation Canada accredits Portage with Exemplary Standing
Portage is very proud to announce that its accreditation standing with Accreditation Canada has been increased to that of Exemplary Standing, as of December 10, 2013. Accreditation Canada, an external competent authority, has recognised Portage’s dedication to continuously improving the quality of our services and ensuring the safety of our clients.
Portage Atlantic highlights the importance of collaboration between mental health and addiction programs and services
During National Addictions Awareness Week, which ran from November 18 to 24, Portage Atlantic created awareness about the important link between its addiction rehabilitation program for youth and the local mental health and addiction support services with whom it works. According to the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health, 30% of people with a mental illness will develop a substance abuse problem in their lifetime and 53% of people who abuse drugs will develop a mental illness.
Portage Atlantic’s first online fundraiser rallies donors around the dreams of youth
Portage Atlantic’s first online fundraising initiative raised a total of $11,222 thanks to the generosity of online donors. The campaign, which culminated in National Addiction Awareness Week at the end of November 2013, sought to spread awareness to a larger audience through a new medium, and showcase Portage as a leader in addiction treatment in Atlantic Canada.
Portage is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping people overcome their dependencies in order to be able to live healthy, happy, and productive lives. With service centres in Québec, New Brunswick, Ontario, and British Columbia, Portage helps clients to develop their self-esteem, confidence, and the competencies necessary to overcome addiction.
