Thanks to Hydro-Québec’s generosity, eight residents from the Portage adult rehabilitation program at Lac Écho had the opportunity to attend the play Moi, dans les ruines rouges du siècle on Wednesday, March 20.
A longstanding partner of Portage—and as part of its agreement with Théâtre Jean Duceppe—Hydro-Québec donated tickets to our organization for a play written and directed by Olivier Kemeid. This dramatic comedy tells the incredible life story of Sasha Samar, a Ukrainian-born Quebec actor who portrays his own human experience.
That evening marked a first-time experience for some of them. Moreover, the opportunity to meet and converse with the actors at the end of the show proved to be a truly magical moment they will remember for a long time. While deeply moving, this story, based on true events, also conveys a message of hope—a poignant final note to remember for these women who struggle daily with addiction.
Portage would like to thank Hydro-Québec and Théâtre Jean-Duceppe for giving our vulnerable clientele, who aspire to a brighter future, the opportunity to enjoy an extraordinary cultural experience they will cherish fondly.
