Aftercare
Once the residential component of the drug addiction rehabilitation treatment program is completed, clients receive Aftercare support for up to two years, through regular communication and meetings with Aftercare counsellors and the Aftercare community.
Continuing Care
This personalised two-year follow-up also applies to clients who, for whatever reason, did not complete all the components of their rehabilitation program. Portage’s Continuing Care program supports these individuals and, if necessary, encourages them back into drug addiction treatment.
“When you leave Portage, you go back to your old life, but as a new person. To be able to go back to Portage – to have that constant support, to have people that you can talk to and who understand all that you’ve been through, it’s a very important element of continued sobriety.”
- Jennifer, Portage graduate
Back in Touch
For those who need even more support, Portage offers Back in Touch sessions, whereby clients currently in Aftercare can return to the Portage centre for a short period. These sessions provide them with the opportunity to get back to basics and work through personal challenges within the context of the therapeutic community approach.
Supervised Apartments
In order to facilitate the transition from the structured and secure environment at Portage to an autonomous lifestyle as a graduate, clients of certain programs have access to supervised apartments upon completion of the residential program. Read more
