On November 26, Tracy Friars and her seven sisters hosted one of Saint John’s most popular fundraising concerts, dedicated this year the youth who are working to overcome their substance abuse issues at Portage Atlantic.
This first-class musical event sold out in thirty minutes when tickets went on sale in September. Accompanied by a spectacular ninety-voice choir directed by Janet Kidd, the Friars Family thoroughly entertained the audience.
During the intermission, Portage Atlantic Chairman Dr. Russell King and a Portage Atlantic graduate addressed the crowd to explain the Portage cause. Following a touching testimonial by the graduate, there was a further outpouring of generosity by the crowd, adding another $6,000 to the proceeds of the concert.
