Last November 6th, the Explo Mobile truck made a stop at the Lac Écho campus. Inside the reconfigured 53-foot truck, visitors learned about eight vocational training programs offered by the Rivière-du-Nord School Board.
Youth and adults from Portage’s drug rehabilitation programs at Lac Écho explored the different work stations on display, including:
- Automobile Mechanics
- Automotive Body Repair
- Electromechanics
- Trucking
- Secretarial Studies and Accounting
- Sale of mechanical parts and accessories
- Nursing
- Machining Techniques
Stops at each work station lasted on average 8 to 12 minutes. It was a great opportunity for residents to learn about vocational training programs available to them when they leave Portage.
The visit ended with residents and event organizers reviewing the activity and participants identifying their preferred program options. Residents were given brochures on the training programs that captured their attention.
