To help them resume their studies and succeed in school, all our adolescent centers offer a mandatory educational program in partnership with local school boards.
Each student learns at their own pace and picks up where they left off. An individualized plan is developed to meet their specific needs and help them achieve their academic goals.
Program Highlights
- Small class sizes that encourage attention and participation
- Dedicated and specialized teachers who understand the therapeutic journey
- Learning programs tailored to each student’s needs and pace
An Educational Approach Integrated with Therapy
The school program at Portage goes beyond traditional classes: it is designed to align with each young person’s therapeutic process. Teachers work closely with clinical staff to provide a safe and supportive environment where education adapts to therapeutic needs.
- Flexible schedules to respect therapy requirements
- Focus on understanding and learning, rather than simply passing exams
- Immediate support when challenges arise, thanks to the proximity of therapeutic staff
Each student has access to a laptop equipped with assistive features such as text-to-speech, predictive text, and spelling and grammar tools. Lessons include varied resources like slideshows and videos to make subjects more engaging and accessible.
A Future Full of Hope
Thanks to this program, many young people have earned their high school diploma during their stay, while others have regained the confidence to pursue post-secondary education. At Portage, education becomes a powerful tool to build a future that matches their ambitions.
I had lost my interest in school when I started using. At Portage, school is a big part of the program. It allowed me to find my love for studying again, which I didn’t think I would get back. I really appreciated that.
