Thanks to a charitable art event organized by painter Sylvie Dagenais, an exceptional $50,000 was donated to the Portage Foundation to launch a new art program across Portage centres in Quebec, for people struggling with addiction. This event took place on November 29 and 30 at Maison Louis-Joseph Forget, a landmark of Montreal’s heritage showcased by the Macdonald Stewart Foundation.
Over those two days, visitors had the opportunity of exploring the home’s magnificent rooms adorned with hand-carved woodwork, while admiring an exhibition of artworks by artists eager to take part in this cultural experience. Student pianists from McGill University’s music program provided a fitting musical backdrop, adding warmth to this gathering that blended art, heritage and philanthropy.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to Sylvie Dagenais for her exceptional generosity. She succeeded in rallying a community around the Portage cause, and we are deeply grateful. We also want to thank Angelo-Knowles Wealth Management Group-TD Wealth Private Investment Advice-for their significant financial support, as well as the great generosity of artists Jean-Claude Poitras, Danny Perkins and Sabrina Leeder. We are equally grateful to all the dedicated volunteers who welcomed visitors and contributed to the logistical success of the event. Finally, we want to thank Mr. Thomas G. Leslie, General Manager of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation, for opening the doors of the house to our guests as part of this fundraising event.
Together, we allow art to become a powerful lever for transformation and hope. Supporting Portage means becoming the “artisans of our cause.” Thank you!
