Portage’s Mother & Child Centre recently opened its doors for its Family Celebration. Current and former residents, families, children and staff came together for a festive afternoon filled with music, dancing, snacks and cotton candy. For the little ones, the bouncy castles and a visit from the mascot were a huge hit!
This year’s celebration was especially meaningful, a s it marked the beginning of the Mother & Child Centre’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
30 Years of Supporting Mothers and Their Children
For 30 years, the Mother & Child Centre has supported pregnant women and mothers struggling with substance use by giving them the opportunity to enter treatment while keeping their children by their side. This unique approach allows them to focus on their own well-being and recovery while continuing to care for their children.
Over the years, many women and families have walked through the Centre’s doors. The Family Celebration is a meaningful opportunity to bring together women currently in treatment, former residents, their loved ones and the staff who support them every day.
Seeing these families come together, children playing and former residents returning to the Centre is a powerful reflection of how far we have come over the past three decades.
The Celebrations Are Just Beginning
This celebration shines a light on the women, families and staff members who have shaped the Centre’s history.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day such a warm and memorable occasion.
