By offering earlier interventions, the program addresses the immediate needs of young people and their families, thereby helping to prevent more serious long-term problems.
The program is designed for youth aged 14 to 21 who are struggling with substance use issues, as well as their families. Young people eligible for Portage's residential program, located at Cassidy Lake (New Brunswick), will receive preparatory support for the live-in treatment at the Cassidy Lake Centre within their local community. They will also have the opportunity to better understand aspects related to education, the role of families and community partners, and the transition process to the residential program.
For 28 years, Portage Atlantic has been an integral part of the addiction and mental health continuum of care in New Brunswick and remains at the forefront of the fight against youth addiction. The Portage Atlantic Community Care Program will strengthen existing partnerships and create new ones by working closely with mental health and addiction organizations. This collaboration will ensure that vulnerable youth receive all the necessary care for their recovery.
