I will be forever grateful to Portage Atlantic - Moncton Community Care Program Services for the life-changing support they provided to my son during one of the most difficult periods of our lives.

At a time when my son was struggling with cannabis addiction while facing a serious mental health crisis, we felt overwhelmed, scared, and unsure of where to turn. Portage became a source of hope when we needed it most.

The care, compassion, and professionalism of the entire team made an incredible difference. They not only supported my son in addressing his substance use but also recognized and respected the complexity of his mental health needs. Their holistic approach helped him begin to rebuild his life with dignity and confidence.

What stood out most was how deeply they cared—not just about his recovery, but about him as a person. They created a safe, structured, and supportive environment where he felt understood rather than judged.

Thanks to Portage, my son has regained stability and is moving forward with hope. As a parent, there is no greater relief than seeing your child rediscover purpose and direction.

I cannot thank the Portage team enough for the work they do in our community. They truly saved my son’s life, and I will always be grateful.

If you’re watching someone you love struggle and don’t know where to turn, this is your sign: reach out. Real help exists, and recovery is possible.

In Her Son's Words

Before entering Portage residential treatment at Cassidy Lake, the Moncton Program gave me a clear understanding of what to expect, including the living environment and the program's expectations. I was very anxious about starting this journey, but the staff's welcoming and down-to-earth approach helped put me at ease and made the transition much smoother.

Today, I have learned far more than I ever expected. I've discovered how to take care of myself not only physically, but emotionally as well. I've learned to ask for help when I need it instead of relying on the unhealthy coping habits I once turned to. I've also rebuilt my relationships with family and friends, which has had a tremendous impact on my overall well-being and peace of mind.

Most importantly, I've come to understand the value of self-discovery and how to continue that journey in a healthy and meaningful way.
