AIMTA Golf Tournament in Support of Portage

On September 13, Portage was the proud beneficiary of the proceeds from a golf tournament held at the Le Diamant Golf Club, organized by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).

Thanks to the generosity of all participants and sponsors, a total of $20,875 was raised. This donation will fund the installation of a sprinkler system for the dek hockey surface at Portage’s residential centre in Lac Écho. This addition will ensure optimal use of the facilities throughout the year and for many years to come.

This gesture goes beyond a simple material contribution. Sport is a powerful vehicle for recovery by helping reduce stress, improving self-esteem and fostering a social bond among our residents struggling with addiction. Dek hockey has therefore become an excellent source of motivation for those seeking a fresh start.

Two Portage employees and a young resident took part in the event throughout the day, hosting a kiosk on site—a valuable opportunity to raise awareness among new partners about Portage’s mission.
