After a difficult winter season and an unprecedented year, a day outdoors practising golf was just what everyone needed.

The reinvented 23rd Edition of the Portage Golf Open took place on Monday, June 7th under sunny skies at the Club Laval-sur-le-Lac golf club. The 148 golfers were delighted to enjoy this first meeting in-person to attend a fundraising event for Portage which helps adolescents struggling with addiction.

Continuous tee-offs complete with Gourmet dinner boxes included in the carts had the participants happily heading out onto the golf course. They also enjoyed throughout the day a variety of gourmet food stations offering dishes from grilled foods to Deli sandwiches, not to mention oysters, seafood and fine cheeses.

In addition to playing golf, several contests had been organized on the course and lucky winners took home a bicycle or gift certificates, among other prizes.

Golfers were all smiles and in good spirits upon returning from their day. Among the guests, we had the honour of welcoming the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, the Honorable J. Michel Doyon, as well as Alain Lemaire, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Cascades and their wives.

A 30-minute reception followed outdoors for everyone, in small groups, while complying with safety standards. Participants were therefore able to share their experience on the course and enjoy well-deserved downtime.

In conclusion, this successful event raised a net total of $140,000, including $13,000 for the online auction. Thanks to our generous partners, a total of 25 diversified and highly coveted items were available.

Our most sincere thanks to committee members who, under the contagious leadership of Stéphane Dufort, Vice-President, Finance and Insurance Sector, IBM Canada Ltd. and Honorary Chair of the tournament, showed enthusiasm and determination to help us reach our goal. We would also like to thank our Prestige Partners: Desjardins, HUB International Quebec, R2i, and Novipro.
