Portage successfully held its 51st Annual General Meeting

Portage held its 51st annual general meeting on September 11th. The organization was honored to welcome many Governors and Board Members in person. The event was also available live via a webinar link.

This year, we were honored to welcome Ms. Geneviève Lefebvre, who was recently appointed as the new President and CEO, succeeding Mr. Peter Howlett. Ms. Lefebvre chaired her first annual general meeting and expressed her eagerness to join Portage and the responsibilities that come with her new role.

The assembly was marked by the emotional speeches of Dr. Russel King and Mr. Peter Vamos, Executive Director of Portage, in tribute to Mr. Howlett. Dr. King shared memories of his first encounters with Mr. Howlett, while Mr. Vamos recounted key moments from Mr. Howlett’s long and honorable career, along with his exemplary dedication to Portage. He also emphasized the profound impact that Mr. Howlett has had on the organization, mentioning the numerous accomplishments achieved under his leadership.

The assembly warmly applauded this tribute with much emotion, recognizing the immense legacy that Mr. Howlett leaves to the organization. This special moment will remain a significant part of Portage’s history and its founder's legacy for many years to come.
