Cassidy Lake, NB, October 6, 2024 – Yesterday, Portage Atlantic families recognized the remarkable achievements of 22 youth who completed the residential phase of their rehabilitation treatment program and 11 youth who have maintained one year positive lifestyle back in the community.
Finding freedom from addiction, reconnecting with loved ones, going back to work or to school, becoming an active member of society, and making the commitment to never again live in the shadows of drugs and alcohol, are remarkable achievements and were celebrated with loved ones, Portage employees, donors and volunteers.
The Annual Recognition ceremony took place at the center at Cassidy Lake and the feeling of pride and appreciation radiated from each of the graduates as they received their recognition certificates.
This year’s Recognition theme, “Better Days” was elaborated on by President and CEO of Portage, Mrs. Geneviève Lefebvre « As we came together today to celebrate the incredible resilience and achievements of these young individuals, we are reminded of the transformative power of courage and commitment. Their journey to reclaim their lives and build a future free from addiction is an inspiration to us all. About Portage Atlantic
Portage Atlantic operates a residential treatment facility for youth between the ages of 14 and 21 with serious substance abuse problems. The bilingual program is based on the therapeutic community approach which, through positive peer role modelling, helps residents to build their self-esteem and learn how to better handle life’s challenges without resorting to drug abuse.
