The 2nd annual Pedal for Portage cycling event in Elora took place on Saturday, September 21, 2019. And what a weekend it was! Over 120 cyclists and volunteers took to one three road/trail routes in Centre Wellington in support of Portage’s residential substance abuse rehabilitation centre for Ontario youth in Elora.
It raised $75,000 in support from generous individuals and companies.
Portage Ontario extends its appreciation to our major sponsors Grand River Agricultural Society, Grand River Raceway, Linton Pasture Pork, Nick’s Quick Delivery, Red Car Service, and Tina’s Team who helped to keep event costs low, and to Grand101 FM who raised awareness about Portage before the event and joined us in their Community Cruiser on event-day.
The tremendous support received at Pedal for Portage not only helped to raise funds in support of the work we do at our residential rehabilitation centre in Elora, but brought much needed community awareness to the issue of addiction amongst our youth and the societal stigma that plagues them.
We are humbled by the trust reposed in us through such generous support. It empowers us to continue on with our goal of helping youth struggling with substance abuse issues to free themselves from their dependence and lead a healthy, productive and sober lifestyle.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Pedal for Portage 2020 will take place on Saturday, September 19th.
