Under the supervision of the Centre Director and the Admissions Coordinator, the Intake Counsellor manages all activities related to data collection, service requests and admissions.
Ensures that all of the organization’s policies and procedures are followed and prioritizes the quality of care provided, as well as the safety and well-being of residents, in all tasks performed, actions taken and documents prepared;
Is vigilant with regards to the safety of Portage staff and residents, immediately reports any dangerous situation and any accident or incident involving one or many residents;
Ensures that all tasks and actions performed focus on the safety and well-being of residents;
Ensures that future residents have provided all the required documents for their admission;
Welcomes the future residents, evaluates their demand, motivation and criteria;
Completes the program eligibility questionnaire for external applicants and those who are incarcerated;
Updates relevant information in the resident’s database;
Refers residents to external resources;
Represent Portage in the community network and report on the action plan to the Admissions Coordinator;
Complete monthly statistics reports for admissions and present them at the team meeting;
Fulfills any other related task at the request of his or her immediate supervisor.
Hold a college degree (DEC) or a university degree in addiction, substance abuse, or in a related field
Pertinent experience in a similar position
Experience with a clientele with substance use disorders in a community setting or therapeutic community
Bilingual: French and English (speak and written)
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Capacity to negotiate, persuade and work under tight deadlines
Autonomy, empathy, organizational skills, initiative, excellent analytical and evaluation capacity
Job Type: permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week
