In honour of National Volunteer Week 2018 (April 15-21), Portage Atlantic recognized the contributions of its dedicated volunteers in a celebration held at the Cassidy Lake centre on April 17, 2018.

Portage Atlantic Clinical Counsellor and Master of Ceremony, Monique Cormier, welcomed the volunteers, youth and staff members to the celebration. She highlighted: “As we give thanks to our volunteers, we wish to focus on this year’s theme- Celebrating the value of Volunteering – building confidence, competence, connections and community”.

The keynote speaker, Erin Flood, Portage Atlantic Board member and community volunteer credits her success to being curious and engaging early on with the community through volunteering in areas that she is most passionate about.

Portage Atlantic Carol Tracey, Director of Development and Kathie Rodger, Facility Director, introduced each volunteer and acknowledged how each individual’s skills set and experiences contribute to Portage Atlantic programs, activities and events.

Each volunteer was invited to choose a pottery coaster created by the Fredericton Portage Atlantic Aftercare youth, as a token of our appreciation.

The volunteers joined staff and residents for a delicious lunch and enjoyed meeting and chatting with some of the youth.
