On Wednesday, April 30, women from Portage’s Adult Program had the wonderful opportunity to attend Janette, a play by prolific author Rébecca Déraspe, at the Duceppe theater at Place des Arts.
Thanks to the generosity of our long-time partner Hydro-Québec, the women enjoyed this powerful production celebrating the remarkable legacy of this 100-year-old trailblazer for women’s rights and gender equality. The lively dialogue between Janette and characters from different generations offered an inspiring and hopeful message that resonated deeply with the group.
The Portage residents were especially grateful for the backstage invitation, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at the production process. But the true highlight of the evening was meeting the cast—particularly Guylaine Tremblay, who delivers a standout performance as Janette. It was a cultural experience they will remember fondly.
