The youth forum organized by Motivaction jeunesse under the theme Les jeunes d’aujourd’hui se dévoilent (Today’s youth reveal themselves) took place on November 30, 2017. Motivaction jeunesse is a non-profit organization that seeks to prevent dropping out of school, sedentariness and delinquency among youth from the Québec City area.
Representing Portage at the forum was Sarah-Eve, a resident at the Saint-Malachie Centre for youth. Speaking before an audience of youth counsellors, teachers, educators and police, Sarah-Eve shared her story about following a different path.
“I really enjoyed the forum on November 30th. It felt good to talk about my life experience to several youth who may be going through similar situations. This has been a very rewarding experience for me because I was able to step outside my comfort zone to help others and show them they are not alone in dealing with difficult issues. Many people came by to congratulate me after my talk. I’m proud of myself and I’ve discovered that I like to share what I know and what I’ve learned. “
