We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Alban D'Amours, former President and CEO of Desjardins Group, and a long-time governor and ambassador for Portage. A wise advisor, compassionate humanist and dedicated philanthropist, Mr. D’Amours leaves an enduring mark on Portage’s history.
The Portage family extends its deepest condolences to his wife Denise—with whom he shared an extraordinary partnership—and to all his loved ones, whom he cherished dearly.
Throughout his career, Mr. D’Amours placed people at the heart of everything he did, guided by values of solidarity, kindness and altruism.
Combining his business acumen with a deep sense of social commitment, he embodied the spirit of the cooperative movement and upheld his “performance triangle” philosophy, maintaining a lasting balance between people, processes and results that defined his professional life.
Portage was privileged to benefit from his wise counsel and heartfelt involvement, always rooted in the values that unite us. A firm believer in the power of education, he viewed knowledge as a vital lever for collective progress, often reminding us that “education at all levels is the key to success.”
Today, we pay tribute to a true builder whose legacy will continue to inspire Portage in its mission to offer young people, adults and families a pathway toward a brighter future.
Thank you, Mr. D’Amours, from the bottom of our hearts.
