2. Does Portage offer services to family members of residents?
An essential element of Portage's treatment programs are services for residents’ families. Provided through group and individual meetings, they help parents understand and manage the issues created by a drug-dependent family member. In addition, Portage offers joint family group meetings in the adolescent program to help residents and families prepare for the transition back into the community. As a result of these group meetings, the family becomes an even better source of support to the resident throughout the recovery process.
3. How often will I see my family member while he/she is in residential treatment?
It depends on which program your family member will attend. Most Portage centres have open house days where family members can visit, as well as a gradual social reintegration program in which residents visit their family members throughout their therapy.
