8. How often will I see my family? Expand

Residents can speak with their family members on the telephone three times a week. After three weeks of therapy, the first family visit occurs on Portage premises for a 6 hour period. Following this initial visit, residents can leave the centre for day visits with their family every 3 weeks. Once the resident reaches a certain level in their therapy, they can spend the weekends with their family, which helps them prepare for social reintegration. The family visit schedule is subject to change, at the discretion of the resident’s caseworker.
