Cassidy Lake, New Brunswick, October 4, 2026<\/b> – Behind every diploma awarded at Portage Atlantic’s Recognition Ceremony is a story of resilience, courage and transformation. Today, the organization honored twenty-nine young graduates who have completed their rehabilitation journey and are moving forward toward brighter futures. This year’s ceremony held special significance as Portage Atlantic also marked 30 years of helping youth across Atlantic Canada overcome substance use challenges and reclaim their lives.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

The Recognition Ceremony celebrates not only the accomplishments of the graduates, but also the essential role played by families, staff, partners, alumni and communities in supporting long-term recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Recovery begins when a young person finds the courage to ask for help, and when the right support is there at the right time,” said Lisa Portelli, Centre Director at Portage Atlantic. Recovery does not happen overnight. It takes guidance, encouragement and a community that believes in their potential. We are incredibly proud to have walked alongside these young people as they worked to build healthier futures for themselves and their families. We will continue to support their success as they return to their communities with the Portage Atlantic Aftercare Program.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\nCelebrating 30 years of impact<\/b>
\nPortage Atlantic celebrates its 30th anniversary. Since opening its doors in 1996, the organization has supported more than 3,500 youth across Atlantic Canada who were experiencing substance use challenges, helping them rebuild their lives and realize their full potential.\u00a0\n

To celebrate this milestone, Portage Atlantic launched 30 Years. 30 Stories. 1 Mission<\/b>.<\/a> a campaign highlighting the people, stories, partnerships and moments that have defined Portage Atlantic over the past three decades. Each story reflects a unique journey, but all share a common thread: transformation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The anniversary comes at a time when concerns related to youth mental health, substance use, and self-medication continue to grow across communities. For 30 years, Portage Atlantic has remained committed to providing support and specialized services to young people and families throughout the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In support of Portage Atlantic’s life-changing programs, The Power of Change Gala<\/a> will take place on November 5 at the Fredericton Convention Centre. About Portage Atlantic\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n

For 30 years, Portage Atlantic has operated a bilingual live-in treatment program in Cassidy Lake, New Brunswick,<\/b> for youth aged 14 to 21. Grounded in the therapeutic community approach, the program emphasizes positive peer role models and helps youth build self-esteem and resilience.\u00a0 The Moncton Community Care Program is an extension of the Cassidy Lake Center which operates a welcoming space for vulnerable youth contemplating residential treatment. Portage is accredited by Accreditation Canada, reflecting its commitment to delivering high-quality evidence-informed care.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
