The year 2025-2026 was marked by major achievements that bolstered Portage’s ability to fulfill its mission of helping people with addiction and mental health issues. As the needs of this vulnerable population become increasingly complex and diversified, Portage has chosen to invest in its greatest strengths: the quality of its services, the expertise of its teams and the strength of its organizational foundation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Establishing a Solid Foundation for the Future<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n
Throughout the year, several decisive steps were taken to consolidate our organization and sustain its long-term development. A major milestone was the signing of a five-year agreement with Sant\u00e9 Qu\u00e9bec, which will help provide the stability needed to pursue our mission.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
We also conducted an extensive strategic planning exercise, with the help of Arsenal Conseils. Employees, trustees, clients and external partners were invited to join in this collective effort to define Portage’s direction for the future.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition, we reinforced our governance mechanisms by developing a risk management matrix and related action plans, and by continuing to work on ensuring our organization’s financial health and improving our management practices. The arrival of new board members has also enriched our governance mechanisms and helped prepare our organization for the future.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responding to Increasingly Complex Needs<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n
The life experiences of the people we help require innovative interventions that are tailored to their needs and based on best practices. To maintain our high standards of service excellence, we continue to invest in skills development for our teams and in the improvement of our clinical practices.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ongoing improvement initiatives of the past year reflect our unwavering dedication to offering safe, caring and high-quality services. The renewal of our accreditation status with commendation confirms our teams’ outstanding commitment to excellence, safety and the well-being of the people we serve.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Driving Research and Innovation<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n
This year also saw significant progress in the confluence of research and practice. The establishment of a scientific committee composed of leading researchers in the field of addiction as well as a new partnership with the RISQ (Recherche et intervention sur les substances psychoactives – Qu\u00e9bec) network team underscore our active commitment to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in this area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Through these strategic partnerships, Portage is expanding its capacity to innovate, to continue developing its clinical and organizational practices and to contribute to the discussions that are shaping the future of addiction services in Quebec.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fostering a Unifying and Interconnected Work Environment<\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\n
Behind every one of Portage’s successes are teams of dedicated, passionate people. Our work-life quality survey indicated a global satisfaction rate of 89%, a result we are very proud of. It reflects our determination to make Portage a work environment where people feel seen, supported and united by a meaningful mission.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We implemented several initiatives to bring teams together, pool their expertise and develop a strong collective vision that will allow us to move together towards our shared goals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
