March 18 marked the official inauguration of Garderie Ribambelle Montr\u00e9al<\/a>, the first Portage-subsidized daycare. This event, held at the Mother and Child centre<\/a>, originated from Portage’s strong dedication to assisting mothers facing addiction issues regain control over their lives while preserving their vital bond with their children.<\/p>\n

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to Suzanne Roy, Minister of Families<\/a>, as well as Guillaume Cliche-Rivard, Member for Saint-Henri-Sainte-Anne<\/a>, for their support and outstanding collaboration on this project.<\/p>\n

A special thank you to May, a young mother and former resident of the Mother and Child program, whose testimony moved the participants deeply. Her story is a living testament to the positive impact of our work and the hope we can offer to other mothers. May reminds us that every effort to support these brave mothers is a step towards a better future for them and their children.<\/p>\n

Mother <\/strong>& Child Program<\/strong><\/p>\n

For over 25 years, Portage has offered addiction rehabilitation services specifically tailored for mothers with young children (ages 0 to 5) and pregnant women.<\/p>\n

This residential program allows mothers to start their rehabilitation therapy while maintaining closeness with their children.<\/p>\n

La Ribambelle<\/strong> daycare<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the day, while these women take important steps toward regaining control of their lives, their children are cared for at La Ribambelle, a subsidized private daycare provided by Portage. The services at La Ribambelle are not only available to the children of the women enrolled in the Mother & Child program, but also to the children of the staff.<\/p>\n

A dedicated team of early childhood educators delivers an educational program within a safe and nurturing environment, with the primary goal of supporting every child in reaching their fullest potential.<\/p>\n

The educators are deeply committed to fostering the well-being and development of children of all ages. They place a strong emphasis on working closely with the mothers, ensuring they remain a central figure in their children’s lives. This approach is complemented by a collaborative effort with the substance use treatment team, providing a continuous support system for the child’s development.<\/p>\n
