{"id":21800,"date":"2018-11-16T12:47:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-16T17:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portage.hamakmarketingnumerique.com\/?p=21800"},"modified":"2018-12-06T11:36:10","modified_gmt":"2018-12-06T16:36:10","slug":"montreal-canadiens-childrens-foundation-donates-8120","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/portage.ca\/en\/montreal-canadiens-childrens-foundation-donates-8120\/","title":{"rendered":"Montreal Canadiens Children\u2019s Foundation Donates $8,120"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Thanks to an $8,120 donation from the Montreal Canadiens Children\u2019s Foundation last May, Portage was able to buy new hockey equipment for its Lac \u00c9cho residential centre for youth in Pr\u00e9vost, Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n<p>Portage bought the new hockey gear to replace worn-out equipment and ensure the safety of the centre\u2019s young residents. With the Foundation\u2019s generous gift, the centre purchased a number of items, including new gloves, helmets, hockey sticks, shin pads, skates and goalie jerseys.<\/p>\n<p>The young residents, aged 14 to 18, are very happy with the new equipment. \u201cBuying new hockey gear may seem pretty routine for some, but it makes a big difference to us. We play a lot of hockey here\u201d, explains Anthony, who has been at the Lac \u00c9cho centre for four months. A physical education teacher meets with the female and male residents of the centre to encourage them to stay active.<\/p>\n<p>Hockey brings people together. It helps build team spirit and mutual support, part of the 21 competencies residents work on during their rehabilitation program. The Montreal Canadiens Children\u2019s Foundation\u2019s generous gift will contribute to the physical and mental well-being of youth at the Lac \u00c9cho centre, which will in turn help its residents acquire the social skills and confidence they need to lead a productive, sober life.<\/p>\n<p>Portage wishes to thank the Montreal Canadiens Children\u2019s Foundation for making these purchases possible and for their nearly 25 years of partnership.
