The organization has continued to fulfil its mission, overcoming a great many obstacles thanks to the perseverance, competence, dedication and leadership of its management and staff.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tBoard of Trustees\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>The Board of Trustees is composed of 25 members, including the Chairperson of the Atlantic Canada Board. The members of the Board of Trustees are elected each year, for a one-year term, at the Annual General Meeting. In accordance with the ByLaws of the Corporation, they have the legal and fiduciary responsibility for the conduct of the affairs of the Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>Generously offering their time, they oversee the proper functioning of the organisation. These Governors help bring Portage&#8217;s message to the community and are chosen among the leaders in their field. The Board of Governors meets once a year at Portage&#8217;s Annual General Meeting, where they elect the Board of Trustees, adopt the financial statements, and appoint the auditors.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tStanding Committees\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>Members of the committees are drawn from the Board of Governors. The committees serve at the will of the Board of Trustees. Each committee has at least three members. The chairpersons and cochairpersons of the committees are appointed by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the Governance Committee. The committees may create sub-committees made up of their members to address specific subjects, projects or programs.<\/p>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Communications and Government Relations<br \/>\nCommittee<\/li>\n<li>Finance Committee<\/li>\n<li>Governance Committee<\/li>\n<li>Human Resources Committee<\/li>\n<li>Program and Vigilance Committee<\/li>\n<li>Properties, Environment and Energy Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tRegional Board\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>The regional board, made up of community leaders, ensure the proper governance of <a href=\"\/en\/atlantic\/\">Portage Atlantic<\/a>, overseeing the operations of the centre in this region and ensuring the transparency of services.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tBoard of Directors of the Portage Foundation\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>The Board of Directors oversees the Foundation&#8217;s fundraising activities and ensures sound financial management.
