Family, friends, loved ones: all experience the repercussions of this reality, often in isolation and facing stigma. At Portage, we understand the importance of supporting loved ones to break that isolation and contribute to recovery.\t<\/h4>\n\t<span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/portage.ca\/en\/\">Home<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tWhy support loved ones?\t<\/h3>\n\t<p class=\"lead\">Because addiction is a family reality. When loved ones receive guidance, they are better equipped to understand what the person in treatment is going through and to contribute to lasting recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Taking care of oneself is just as essential. By creating a space to express emotions and find support, loved ones maintain their balance and mental health, which strengthens their ability to help.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong> These services are offered exclusively to loved ones whose family member is enrolled in Portage&#8217;s residential program.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tServices designed for loved ones\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>To support family members in the challenges they face, we offer services tailored to their needs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Weekly support groups<\/strong><br \/>\nThese meetings help break isolation, share experiences, and provide tools in an atmosphere of listening and solidarity. They also help reduce the stigma associated with addiction.<\/li>\n<li><strong>One-on-one meetings with a counselor<\/strong><br \/>\nTo ask questions, better understand the therapeutic approach, or discuss a concerning situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These spaces promote a better understanding of addiction and Portage&#8217;s therapeutic approach. They also prepare families for their loved one&#8217;s social reintegration by providing practical tools they can put into action.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<p>It was really hard for me to come to terms with the fact that my little girl had done all these things without me knowing. I was shaken for two weeks. Then I started going\u00a0to the parents meetings for the adolescent program. I told myself that if my daughter was working to better herself then I should too, because no one is perfect. What a wonderful forum for discussion! Rain or shine, tired or not, I would go to the meetings every Tuesday evening. I would always leave feelings stronger and with new tools, ready to take on the week.
