Soirée des Grands Philanthropes
Portage's Soirée des Grands Philanthropes is an opportunity to pay tribute to an outstanding individual from Québec’s business community. Since 2004, Portage has honoured leaders, entrepreneurs and major philanthropists who cultivate excellence and promote the progress and well-being of society through their commitment and vision. All profits from this well-attended event will be dedicated to Portage’s programs in Quebec.
This year, Portage proudly pays tribute to Pierre Pomerleau, Executive Chair of the Board of Directors of Pomerleau. This exceptional leader sets himself apart for his remarkable contribution to the well-being of the community, his strong philanthropic commitment, and his contribution to the business community. He has participated in numerous major fundraising campaigns for charitable causes in Quebec. Convinced of the importance of giving back, he personally supports numerous initiatives, consolidating his legacy as a visionary entrepreneur and community builder.

Pierre Pomerleau’s Philanthropic Commitment
For more than thirty years, Pierre Pomerleau has been actively committed to building more resilient communities by supporting causes that are deeply important to him, including the well‑being of children, health, education and the next generation of entrepreneurs. Driven by the conviction that everyone deserves the best possible opportunities to thrive, he sees philanthropy as a powerful lever for lasting change for present and future generations.
Under his visionary leadership, the Pomerleau company has built far more than infrastructure: it has helped strengthen the social fabric of communities across Canada. Through his direction, the organization consolidated a community engagement program now firmly embedded in the DNA of its 5,000 employees.
Pierre’s philanthropic commitment is particularly evident in the healthcare sector. From 2023 to 2025, while continuing to serve as Chair of Pomerleau’s Board of Directors, he also chaired the Board of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, leading—alongside its team—the largest hospital fundraising campaign ever conducted in Quebec. Over the years, Pierre has taken part in numerous major fundraising campaigns and has also served as honorary chair or as a member of campaign cabinets for several large-scale initiatives.
Convinced that education is one of the fundamental pillars of social and economic progress, Pierre has always supported education and the next generation. Among other ways, his commitment is reflected in his involvement with École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce in his native region, where he served as the very first volunteer entrepreneur-coach. He also remains actively involved with several educational institutions, including Polytechnique Montréal, École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) and various school foundations, helping promote access to education and nurture a new generation of builders.
“When we have the ability to act, we have a duty to lift our community. My long-standing commitment to the Portage Foundation helps these young people struggling with addiction get back on their feet and build a new path forward. Together, let’s help them spread their wings.”
— Pierre Pomerleau, Pomerleau’s Chairman of the Board
