Ten Tables Towards Freedom reaches out the community

Portage Ontario board members opened their homes to community members this past June, hosting intimate events to raise awareness about Portage’s drug addiction rehabilitation centre for youth in Elora.

Portage receives $68,000 from The Co-operators Annual Golf Tournament

Guelph Community Foundation 2A dear friend to Portage Ontario since 2012, The Guelph Community Foundation assists charities located in Guelph and surrounding areas. Chris Willard, Executive Director of the Foundation, along with his small but mighty team have not only provided financial assistance to Portage, but have also helped open doors to other individual and corporate donors wishing to make a philanthropic gift to support the needs of the youth in treatment.

A positive experience with probation officers

As they have for the past few years, the youth in treatment at the Portage Elora drug addiction rehabilitation centre welcomed a group of Ontario probation officers to the centre this spring for a sporting match and barbeque lunch. Whereas most of the contact that Portage residents have had with probation officers in the past has been because they were in trouble with the law, this activity was a positive experience for the youth. It helped humanise the probation officers in the eyes of the residents and helped them better understand the role of a probation officer.
