Ground broken on program’s new home

Justine Vaughan and Matt Barrett believe a life-changing program deserves great facilities.
They are both residents of the Portage treatment centre at Cassidy Lake near Norton. Since opening
a decade ago, it has helped about 1,100 Atlantic Canadian youth such as Vaughan and Barrett
overcome drug and alcohol addictions.

‘There are so many people out there who need help,” 18-year-old Vaughan shared. She has been at
Portage for two months now and insists she will be successful in her treatment because of her new
perspective.
