Portage will put the furniture to good use as important issues are discussed and projects arranged to help tackle serious drug addictions of young clients aged 14 to 21, said spokesperson Carol Tracey.
She said PotashCorp was recognized at the highest level of support as a Miracle Champion during the recent Making Miracles Happen Capital Campaign to rebuild Portage facilities.
As such, she said, the boardroom at Cassidy Lake was dedicated to the company even when it was without furniture.
“What was there before were old chairs needing repair and folding tables,” she explained.
PotashCorp opted to furnish the room bearing its name with the $16,000 donation.
Tracey said the boardroom is used for Portage meetings, gatherings and presentations. As well, on occasion, community groups use the space for meetings.
