Portage’s 40th anniversary

Portage Lewis Fitness CentreThe late Dr. William Lewis of Nova Scotia, a Miracle Champion Donor for Portage Atlantic’s “Making Miracles Happen” Campaign, has left $750,000 to Portage Atlantic to build the Lewis Fitness Centre, in memory of his parents Oliver and Doris Lewis.  Preliminary plans are now underway.

Portage Atlantic featured on Rogers TV

Rogers Television produced a thirty minute special on the Portage Atlantic drug rehabilitation treatment centre for youth in New Brunswick, which was aired at the end of November during National Addictions Awareness Week.  Rogers TV has also agreed to air Portage’s new awareness commercial free of charge.  Portage Atlantic is very grateful to Rogers for their support.

Portage in the midst of developing Pre Care services

The time period between an person’s first contact with Portage and his/her actual admission to the program is critical. In order to maintain the client’s motivation throughout the inevitable delays and necessary pre-admission tasks, Portage is seeking to establish Pre Care services at all of its centres.

Portage’s Accreditation Process

Portage AccreditationSince being accredited by Accreditation Canada in 2010, Portage has maintained its commitment to providing quality services to its clients and has continued to invest in its employees and the organisation.  In June 2013, Accreditation Canada will be conducting follow-up visits to Portage’s centres.  In anticipation, Portage has been collecting updated questionnaires from staff members and board members.

Employee Recognition Fall 2012

Every four months, the employees at each Portage centre vote to recognise one of their colleagues for their outstanding work and contribution to the organisation, the staff team, and the therapeutic community.
