Over the last two decades, Portage Atlantic has touched the lives of hundreds of teenagers who come to Portage seeking to break free from their addiction so they can lead a better life.
Volunteer work is valued throughout the year at Portage Atlantic and, once a year; we hold a special recognition ceremony for our volunteers as another way of saying: Thank you!
The many volunteers at Portage Atlantic include members of the Portage Atlantic Board of Directors, District N1 Lions Clubs and people who volunteer their time with the youth at the centre. All play a fundamental role in the success of the Portage Atlantic residential rehabilitation program.
During the recognition ceremony held in April, Portage Atlantic volunteers heard the eloquent words of gratitude of a mother who expressed her heartfelt appreciation to them for their precious contribution. The Portage program, she expressed, saved her son’s life – he has returned home, is continuing his education, is proud to participate in high school sports teams and envisions plans for his future.
Words of gratitude and appreciation for the volunteers’ continued and essential support to the many facets of the Portage Atlantic program were expressed by Kathie Rodger, Director of the Portage Atlantic Rehabilitation Centre at Cassidy Lake, Dr. Russell H.T. King, Chairman of the Portage Atlantic Board of Directors, and several other guests.
