Youth provided an opportunity to think about the future – Trades Orientation Program

From April 27 to June 12, 2015, Paul French and Pat Hanratty, instructors at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John, NB, introduced the youth to carpentry and touched on the electrical, plumbing and metals processing trades. Community Breakfast in Sussex, NB

August 3 to 6 – Twelve youth from the Portage Atlantic Centre at Cassidy Lake will be participating in the 17th Portage Olympics, in Saint-Malachie, Québec. 

September 27 –  The 19th annual Recognition Day will be hosted by Portage Atlantic to celebrate the achievements of youth who have completed various stages of the residential and aftercare components of the program and attained their individual educational goals.

Visit from the Fundy Silverado Friendship Club

CIMG1756 - SilveradosWEBOn May 26th, Portage Atlantic staff and youth welcomed the Fundy Silverados Friendship Club. Upon arrival at Cassidy Lake, five youth each led a group of six Silverados club members through the facilities and described “a day at Portage”. The visit concluded with refreshments and a debriefing in the theatre room that overlooks Cassidy Lake. The guests indicated how impressed they were with their tour guides and the facilities. The Fundy Silverados Friendship Club is a service club whose members are very active in the Sussex community. Read more …
