Cassidy Lake, New Brunswick – October 5, 2025 – Portage Atlantic celebrates 20 young graduates of its rehabilitation centre in Cassidy Lake today at its annual Recognition Ceremony, an event filled with emotion and pride.
Under the theme “Change is,” the ceremony highlights the inspiring journeys of the adolescents and young adults who have successfully completed their journey to sobriety. This theme reflects the many dimensions of change they have experienced—personal, familial, social—and the hope that now guides them toward a brighter future.
The Honourable Cindy Miles, Minister of Social Development, is taking part in this very special day as a guest speaker and joins the attendees in celebrating youth’s remarkable journeys. The Recognition Ceremony brings together families, staff, and community members to celebrate these achievements and encourage the young people to continue their path with confidence.
Portage warmly congratulates the graduates and thanks all those who have supported them throughout their rehabilitation.
This year, Portage Atlantic is proud to help 7 young people continue their education, thanks to its long-standing Bursary Program. Dave Ferguson, Chair of Portage Atlantic, in attendance at the ceremony, has observed that the Bursary Program plays an important role in building confidence and hope because it shows that someone believes in them and their future. This long-standing offering provides exceptional opportunities for youth to make a fresh start and build self-esteem and motivation.
“At Portage Atlantic, we are very proud of our graduates' achievements and wish to honor them with this ceremony. Today, these young people are opening the door to new opportunities, brighter prospects, and the chance to become the best versions of themselves.”
