For the third year in a row, graduates of the Portage drug-abuse rehabilitation program got together over the Holidays to Pay it forward.

On December 2, 2017, the former Portage residents held a spaghetti supper fundraiser to buy Christmas presents for youth who are currently in treatment at Portage and help adult residents give presents to their children. More than $3000 were raised to purchase gifts for youth, adults and children at Portage centres located in Quebec.

ʺMy goal was to reunite former Portage residents and work together to lift the spirits of current residents. We all know how difficult the Holiday period can be when you’re alone and that’s why we wanted to get involved”, explained Patrick Lord, who initiated the project.

The gifts were handed out on December 23rd and it was a great day for all. ʺThe residents and the entire Portage team are grateful to the former residents. It was a wonderful day that brought joy to many people”, said Caroline Gélinas, Director of the Lac Écho campus.
