Portage - Fete de la reconnaissance 2012-1

Congratulations to our 2012 gradutes for having taken on addiction at Portage

Portage - Fete de la reconnaissance 2012-3After months in treatment and often years of drug and alcohol abuse, this year’s graduates celebrated their victory over addiction at Portage’s annual Recognition Ceremonies, which took place on September 30 in Montréal, and on October 21 in Québec City.  The graduates’ family members, friends, staff members and Portage partners congratulated the graduates with thunderous applause for all that they have accomplished during their stay at Portage and for their determination “never to live in the shadows again”.

Portage celebrates Drug Awareness Week 2012

Part of Portage’s mission is to create more awareness that there are viable and effective treatment options to address the overwhelming social problem of substance abuse.  This year, during Drug Awareness Week from November 18 to 24, Portage will be focusing on the growing trend of prescription drug abuse, which has been taking a devastating toll on many lives. If you work at a school or a community organisation and would like to have Portage speak to your group about the Portage substance abuse rehabilitation program, or if you would like to come visit one of the Portage centres in Québec during Drug Awareness Week, please contact Catherine Fisette, Director of Government and Commununity Relations, at 514-939-0202 or at cfisette@portage.ca.

Portage - Crois en toi

“Today, I stand up for my values and beliefs that I rediscovered while at Portage. In learning to respect myself, my family and friends have learned to trust me again, because now when I say that I’m going to do something, I do it. I have also learned how to say no and to take responsibility for my decisions.  I sometimes make mistakes, but I admit to them and I continue to move forward.” – Rémi, graduate of Portage Québec’s drug rehabilitation and employment reintegration programs

Portage’s Employment Reintegration Centre celebrates its 25th birthday!

Portage Quebec - Programme de formation emploiSince it was established in 1987, Portage’s Employment Reintegration Centre in Québec City has been helping people who have had problems with drugs, alcohol, and gambling to reintegrate into society and find meaningful employment. After twenty-five years of service, the program, which is funded by Emploi-Québec and provided free-of-charge to participants, has helped equip over 7,000 people with the skills and confidence they need to reintegrate into the workforce.
