Spring Outward Bound Canada canoe trip
From May 5th – 11th, males from the Portage Elora program participated in an extended Outward Bound Canada expedition. Over the course of a 7 day long canoe trip in the beautiful Algonquin Provincial Park, 9 youth were able to test the skills they have learned at Portage in the Canadian wilderness.
“The best part of my Outward Bound experience was seeing the end result to all my hard work and being able to share it with the ones beside me. It’s definitely life changing. I would do it again.”

Discovering Elora’s new Therapeutic Vegetable Garden
With the support of The Home Depot Canada Foundation, the Portage Elora Youth Garden Project is one of several recreational activities youth will have the opportunity to participate in this summer.
Youth will cultivate, nurture and grow the vegetable garden with the help of staff in Elora. They will also be responsible for building a fence, planting and maintaining the garden and for ensuring that it thrives and produces edible vegetables.
“It has taught me about having a routine. It takes discipline that some people may not have. It helps to build a new skill which is relatable in my program, as we see the plants grow so do we in our own lives.”
Elora Staff take part in a CPR Workshop
On Friday July 24, the Elora staff took part in a CPR workshop where they learned how to apply bandages and first-aid techniques. A great team-building experience for all.
