Portage Atlantic youth meet actor and retired professional wrestler, Robert Maillet

Portage Atlantic Robert Maillet 2On January 26, 2016, Portage Atlantic was pleased to welcome Robert Maillet, a French Canadian Actor from Eastern Canada, also known for his professional wrestling career, as a guest speaker. The youth in drug addiction rehabilitation treatment were captivated by his stories from Hollywood and the World Wrestling Entertainment.

Lions Club makes the Holidays special for the youth in treatment

Lions Christmas Portage AtlanticFor the youth in treatment at Portage Atlantic, the most eagerly awaited event of the Holiday season is the Annual Lions Christmas Party, which took place this year on December 6, 2015.  Portage Atlantic is very grateful for the long-standing support of the Lions Club and for their genuine concern for the youth in treatment.

Legalisation of marijuana: The perspective of those who have lived through addiction

The government of Canada has plans to legalise and regulate the recreational use of marijuana. Complex, multi-faceted, and controversial, the discussion around the legalisation of marijuana has triggered a lot of reaction and reflection. Will it better protect youth? Will usage increase? Will it trivialise the use of drugs? How will it be regulated? Will other drugs eventually be legalised as well? Portage has been following the dossier closely.
