Portage Atlantic’s Lewis Fitness Centre Capital Campaign
With a very generous donation from the late Dr. William Lewis, Portage Atlantic is planning for the Lewis Fitness Centre Capital Campaign, which seeks to raise an additional $800,000 for the construction of a brand new fitness centre to be built on-site for the youth in substance abuse treatment at Cassidy Lake. Already, a donation of $11,000 has been received from the Nashwaaksis Lions Club.
Spring staff training at Cassidy Lake
In the field of addiction treatment, the needs of clients are continually evolving. To manage the changing landscape, Portage has been adapting its service offering over the years and providing new training and development opportunities to its staff members in order to comply with best practices. Most recently, Portage Atlantic staff members participated in a training session with Corrections Canada called Becoming Trauma Informed.
Donation from the RCMP Foundation
Portage is very grateful to the RCMP Foundation for its $5,000 donation to the Portage Atlantic Recovery Trail Project, which provides youth in rehabilitation treatment with a forested area for walking, biking, snowshoeing, and quiet reflection.
