A Portage Atlantic and District N1 Lions Project.

About Portage Atlantic

The bilingual residential programs and services offered at Portage have helped thousands of Atlantic youth overcome their dependencies and live healthy, happy, and productive lives. Since its very beginnings in 1996, Portage Atlantic has evolved in leaps and bounds from its programming to the actual physical site. This steady growth is thanks to the dedicated staff members, to the ever-present volunteers, supporters, and to the youth themselves who have courageously committed to living healthy lifestyles.

Your Community Garden

The long-term residential treatment centre, located near Sussex on the shores of Cassidy Lake, sits on 165 acres. Your Community Garden will be situated at the entrance of the long driveway leading youth to a place of hope where they can work on, among other things, becoming active and responsible members of their community.

Your Community Garden will engage youth to exert their responsibilities by working together with community volunteers in planning, establishing and maintaining the garden. The seasonal work to be done with Your Community Garden will be ongoing and the implementation will span over the course of several years, will involve many youths, participating staff members and community support members and donors.
