Last fall, members of the PEI Standing Committee on Mental Health and Addictions visited Cassidy Lake for a discussion with Portage Atlantic officials about how Portage could help address youth addiction issues in PEI.
The visit gave them the opportunity to better understand the program, and they appreciated being able to see first-hand all that the centre has to offer the youth in treatment. The visitors agreed that the program is very beneficial for the youth in need in PEI.
On October 28, the New Brunswick Southern Caucus members held their annual caucus meeting at the Cassidy Lake facility. Following their meeting, they enjoyed a tour of the facility and a lunch with staff members and residents. They were all very impressed with the youth in treatment, particularly with how openly and willingly they expressed their feelings.
