For 24 hours, from February 8 to 9, 2012, the graduating class at the Université du Québec à Rimouski’s (UQAR) Lévis campus participated in their annual Vélothon 24h, to raise money for several charitable community organisations in the region.
The Portage addiction rehabilitation centre for youth in Saint-Malachie was pleased to be one of these organisations. The students at the Lévis campus, particularly touched by Portage’s mission, pedalled their bicylces to help the youth at the centre to overcome their substance abuse issues. The funds that were given to Portage will be used to create a scholarship for the Portage Saint-Malachie residents.
This was the third edition of the Vélothon 24h, a festival of health and physical activity.
Portage is very grateful to have been chosen as a beneficiary of this UQAR student initiative.
