About Portage

12-01-2014

Portage is proud to be a part of a global initiative that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners – charities, families, businesses, and individuals – to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season.

On Tuesday, December 2nd, GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving – similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with sales and holiday shopping – and Portage will be a part of this movement.

In 2013, more than 10,000 partners in 43 countries contributed to the movement. In Canada, more than 1,300 charities, foundations, groups, businesses and brands came together to participate. Thanks to national media coverage and the participation of millions of Canadians, the #GivingTuesdayCa hashtag trended #2 on Twitter. Together, these organizations launched an unprecedented campaign for giving, engaging millions of Canadians with the non-profit sector.

Portage will be using the #GivingTuesdayCa hashtag to join the movement and share with its partners, supporters, and new friends on social media, how you can support the life changing work Portage does in Ontario.
Since its establishment in 1985, the Portage Ontario centre has treated more than 4,000 youth from every region of Ontario. With your support, Portage can continue to help youth struggling with addiction and substance abuse.
Here’s how you can participate in GivingTuesday with Portage:

1. Make a donation to the Portage Ontario Foundation https://www.fondationportage.ca/portage/Make_A_Donation.html

2. Spread the word to friends, family, and colleagues through Facebook and Twitter by sharing posts by the Portage Foundation.
This December 2nd, show your support for the youth of Ontario!
