Portage is pleased to officially announce that Montréal’s Health and Social Services Agency has confirmed continued provincial financing for the Mother and Child Program until 2016.
The Mother and Child Program, created in 2005 with funding from the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec and the Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, allows residents to work on strengthening their maternal bond with their child as they deal with their drug addiction issues, their role as mothers, and with other family relationships.
“My life changed with respect to my relationship with my son,” explains Maude, a graduate of the Mother and Child Program. “I feel more valued, I feel a lot closer to him. I have more confidence in myself, in my role as a mother, and I feel less guilty.”
With the Québec Government financing confirmed, the Mother and Child Program can pursue its work providing this vulnerable clientele with addiction rehabilitation services, helping them to develop a healthy lifestyle for themselves and for their families.
