On September 28, 2010, the children of the Portage Mother and Child’s day care centre, La Ribambelle, boarded the train for Québec City with their teachers, waving goodbye to their mothers on the platform. After a long train ride, the group finally arrived and headed over to their hotel to check in. The staff members at the hotel were very attentive to the children and even left them each a little present in their rooms.
During their three-day stay, the children and their teachers visited the Aquarium du Québec, Old Québec, and the Musée de la civilisation, where they got to dress up as fairy tale characters. They also took a ride on the funicular and the Québec-Lévis ferry. They all got dressed up in their best to go out to dinner in a fancy restaurant at the top of a tower. The children loved the fact that the restaurant rotated slowly, providing wonderful views of the city. They were all very well-behaved.
Despite the rain, the children had a fantastic time. They were pretty tired when they arrived back in Montréal, but had lots of great storied to tell their mothers who were waiting for them at the train station.
The children have a lot to be proud of and the staff members at the Mother and Child centre would like to thank everyone who helped make the trip possible.
