Since its creation in 2005, Portage’s Mother and Child Program has been jointly funded by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and the Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon. Portage is pleased to announce that these two partners have agreed to extend their funding of the Mother and Child Program until March 2013. With this funding, Portage can continue to provide substance abuse rehabilitation services to this vulnerable clientele, helping even more pregnant women and mothers to overcome their addiction issues.
At the Mother and Child Program, women work on strengthening their bonds with their children, while addressing their drug addiction issues, their role as parents, as well as problems of isolation, and family and interpersonal relationships. Throughout this important learning and growing period, the family unit is maintained.
