Every year, several members of the United Commercial Travelers (UCT) of Saint John, a longstanding supporter of Portage Atlantic, spend a day at Portage’s Cassidy Lake rehabilitation centre. This year, eight members from the club attended the morning meeting with the residents and had a guided tour of the new buildings. They then had the opportunity to sit with residents and staff members to learn about the programs and services being offered at the treatment centre.
At the end of their visit, the UCT members presented a cheque for $7,500 to Portage Atlantic, to be put towards the Portage Atlantic Recovery Trail Project. The Recovery Trail Project is raising funds to enhance and extend Cassidy Lake’s existing 3.8 km path through the woods, where residents can go walking, running, biking, and snowshoeing to reflect on their journey towards sobriety.
