Summer has finally arrived and the summer schedule is in full swing at Portage’s rehabilitation centres in Québec.
At the Mother and Child centre, the community has been enjoying sports tournaments, visits to the museum, and outings to the beach at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The residents also welcomed the women’s community from Portage’s Adult Program in Prévost for a “Summer Olympics” day and for an exchange between the two communities. They also celebrated Saint-Jean Baptiste Day and Canada Day by having talent shows with their children.
The adolescent community at Portage’s centre in Prévost has had a number of visits this summer from people who are interested in learning more about the program and they welcomed 115 people to an Open House day in June. The youth are making the most of the summer by going on camping trips, as well as outings to the water slides and to the zoo. The adult community has also been doing some camping, some horseback riding, and have also enjoyed outings to the water slides and to a challenge course in the woods.
